Macromolecular and Supramolecolar Chemistry

Born in 1987 in Tunisia, Yosra is a Junior Research Scientist at the Department of Chemical Science and Technology of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. She graduated in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation Engineering at the Faculty of Science of Tunis (Tunisia, 2012). Then, she was awarded a “FILAS” research fellow on the “Design of New Polymeric Microdevices for Biomedical Applications” at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2013-2015). In 2017, Yosra has obtained a PhD degree in Chemistry at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. During her postdoctoral experience, Yosra took part to EU research projects, namely THERAGLIO and AMPHORA.
Research Interest

  • Formulation of colloid emulsions and drug delivery systems: Injectable contrast agents for ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging (i.e. microbubbles/phase-change nanodroplets encapsulated in lipid/polymeric shells), and their surface derivatization with drugs/ fluorescent dyes or nanoparticles for multimodal imaging/or peptides for active tumor targeting.
  • Charged particle radiation therapy dosimetry and range verification using superheated phase-change nanodroplets assisted by ultrasound imaging.
  • Hydrogels/microgels synthesis by free radical polymerization.
  • Pristine graphene exfoliation in aqueous media, and its anchoring in/on polymeric matrixes.
